Let’s Talk perfection

I was talking with a friend about the type of photography I enjoy doing, “I like messy,” I said, “I like when things aren’t tied up in a bow. I like when the pressure is off and there is time for authentic connection, and I get to experience each family just as they are.” She laughed and said “that’s also how you like your friends.” Which is true! I love learning people’s stories, and I love holding space for differences and struggles, and stillness, and sorrow, and beauty. Every family I shoot I feel honored and completely in awe of how truthful they are with me and each other (even with a camera there for 5+ hours) It’s an honor.

The amount of time allows for the letting go of inhabitions, it allows for an ease to creep in and for who you are to shine. Every family looks different and every family story is compelling and beautiful. I feel lucky to be able to record these stories through my lens.

If perfection if your goal- I’m not your girl. My documentary style is not for everyone, I get that, but if you are intestered in this type of experience- I threw perfect out a long time ago. I replaced that with curiosity, palpable emotions, and infinite possibility.

I can’t wait to connect over a cup of tea and hear all about your family.
