Greensboro Family Photographer
Not your traditional family portrait.
I chronicle the family story with photographs of wonder and connection.
Raw, emotive Greensboro family photography, focused on authentic connection.
I seek to uncover/discover what is already there, your family’s essence, rather than something that feels fabricated
Let’s challenge the traditional family portrait, or turn it upside down and give it a little shake. To find the music in the silence, revel in the stillness, and celebrate the chaos.
Throw away neat and tidy. embrace the silly and wonder filled moments that only your family shares.
I chose Abigail based on her work…her eye capturing everyday moments in a creative light. She is professional, punctual, and patient while working with children. I was hoping to get photos of my children, just being them. Capturing interactions with them and my expectations we’re definitely exceeded.

Authentic family photographs have the unique power to capture the spirit of your family.
Do you ever feel tired of posing and feel like your family pictures look like every other Christmas card that comes in the mail? Let’s skip those pictures altogether and instead fill your album with genuine interactions that tell the story of your family.
These photographs show the true personalities in your family, YOUR joys, and your struggles. These are the memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
This Greensboro Family Photographer is not looking for perfect - in fact, imperfections only add to the richness of your photos. Whether it's a inside joke, a tearful hug, or a candid moment of vulnerability, these photographs will be testament to the love and bond shared in your family.
This is an opportunity to look back in years to come and not only see but FEEL your family pictures.
We saw Abigail’s photography on Instagram and loved the color and feel of her work. She’s so good at capturing sweet and candid moments, whether it’s with pets, kids or couples. We had a couples shoot with her and loved how she made it seem so natural and easy. We loved every picture we got back— the lighting, colors, everything is so beautiful and magical. We were so grateful that she captured the stage of life we were in so well and we’ll treasure them forever and definitely be going back for more!

Let’s talk perfection.
Photos can be stressful when there is a feeling of “we need to be perfect.” Perfection feels like a high stakes word (because it is!) with it floods connotations like:
“The kids need to behave”
“Everybody needs to smile!”
“We need to have the right clothes”
“We have a standard to reach”
That’s a lot of pressure. The good news is, I have taken perfect out of the equation. I have replaced it with unexpected, curiosity, connection, wonder, and whimsy.
I first chose Abigail to take my son’s newborn photos because I trusted her artistic eye and I thought it would be fun to get a few snapshots of those early days. And Abigail far exceeded my expectations! Not only were the pictures precious and captured details and moments that I wouldn’t even think to ask for… but she made me feel SO at ease. The entire shoot was very laid back - a vibe I needed as I navigated my first post party’s experience. I would recommend Abigail to anyone looking for a photographer!

Why choose me?
This path to becoming a Greensboro Family Photographer was blazed out of my earnest desire to capture my own children’s messy, chaotic, beautiful, and humorous childhood.
I wanted a photo album that overflowed with the complex and layered emotions that MY family life offered. Non-traditional photo sessions have always spoken to my soul because they remove pressure and uniformity and provide, instead, a space for storytelling and vulnerability
I want YOU to…
..think of me as a part of the family for the day. The camera is simply a tool used to capture your story and your family’s unique connection.
Which would you rather have: A series of beautiful family portraits where everyone is smiling at the camera, OR a collection of connected family moments? The silly, the sad, the mundane, the messy, the complicated and all the moments in between that make your family- YOUR family. These are photos you will come back to year after year and instantly FEEL your family, almost before you even SEE the pictures.
Being a Greensboro Family Photographer allows me to do what I love most in the world; storytelling and holding space for ordinary moments. I want to capture beauty in unexpected places that sneak up in the times of both comfort and discomfort, joy and sadness.
We chose Abigail because we knew that you would be able to convey the beauty of our family in the normal morning, day to day. We've had professional pictures taken, but these felt homey and we were comfortable with her in our home!
A Half Day Session is what we chose, it is not like normal family photos. Allow yourself the freedom to just BE with your family, and you will be amazed how beautifully your mundane can be captured. What a kiss on the forehead, a pet of your puppy, a snuggle of your baby, looks like when it isn't posed.

I can completely relate. I have always been more of a “behind the scenes” type of person, myself. Standing and posing in front of a camera can definitely brings up anxiety and discomfort. A few reasons for this, that seem to resonate with others, are being camera shy, not being keen on the idea of posing, feeling awkward or labeling oneself “an awkward person,” or feeling pressure to look a certain way. Whatever the reason, not being at ease during a photo session can add a layer of stress that results in stiff photos.. I get it, I really do. As a photographer, I want you to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible by taking the time to get to know your family beforehand and creating an atmosphere of authenticity. My hope is that the camera will just fade into the background and you won’t even notice that I’m there.. After all, these photos are not just images, but your story, memories that you will return to year after year. .

I have yet to meet a parent ( myself included) that hasn’t felt the same way at one point or another. As a photographer (and mom of 2 littles), I understand that every child is unique and may not always be comfortable in front of a camera. This is why I take a gentle approach to all of my sessions and aim to capture natural, beautifully candid moments. I think the best shots come from the in-between moments and the genuine interactions between family members. Childhood is full of whimsy, humor, big emotions, curiosity and discovery. That's what I capture and cherish the most. So, don't worry about your kids, I want to take that off your plate. I promise to work my magic to create beautiful images that you will treasure for years to come.

If your house is small and often messy, don’t worry about it! As a photographer, I am experienced in finding the best angles and lighting to showcase the beauty of your surroundings, whether that’s playing in a park, swimming in a lake, or living out life in your home. A kitchen table covered in cereal, orange juice, and good conversation brings a layer of personality that no “instagram” home can offer. Why? Because it’s YOUR home. And no other home is filled with YOUR love, laughter, tears, and experiences. Another perk is smaller spaces often offer unique opportunities for creative and intimate images. Together, we can work to create a beautiful album that capture the essence of your home and reflects who you actually are as a family. Let's celebrate the imperfect, and find the story that is YOUR family.

First off, I love that you want to continue taking family pictures- regardless of the age of your children. I know we are in a society where baby and toddler years are saturated with family pictures, but it gets harder as individual schedules diverge and pictures take a back burner to highschool and college etc. I also know that as children grow up, their views on family pictures change. It can be a challenge to capture precious family moments, especially if your teenagers don’t like having their pictures taken. I encourage you to involve your kids in the planning of our session. Do they have an activity they would like to do together? Do they have a meal they would like to cook or share together? Do they have a milestone they would like to capture? Before I became a photographer I was a teacher, and still teach on the side. I love working with middleschool, highschool, and college students. I find their unique perspectives so rich and I enjoy capturing their interests, and unique personalities. I find that even kids who are MOST adamantly “against photos,” end up enjoying the sessions. Documentary family sessions are really different than traditional. I spend a lot of time getting to know your family and my goal is to give you an album that truly reflects your connection and your individuality.
My biggest concern was working with one of my children that has high anxiety. My daughter was relaxed and participated the whole time. She still says she will only do photos if Abigail is taking them!
If you are on the fence DO IT! Save the money & make the investment. You can’t take back time or experiences with loved ones and what better way to remember those times than through professional photography.
